my dad has a small computer cable company and he buys and sells cat5 and 
cat6 ethernet cable. I don't know if he has 1000ft of ethernet cable on 
hand, but he might be able to get it for you at a reasonable price. I don't 
remember the specs off the top of my head for making ethernet cable, but if 
you look at an existing ethernet cable and just copy the color code then all 
you need is a crimper...don't know the price off the top of my head, 
sorry...and the connectors. It isn't that tough, I could show you how to do 
it, if necessary.
